Nox hit 5 weeks yesterday! He’s done amazingly on the antibiotics and isn’t having the scary apnea spells anymore. He has an eye exam on Tuesday, where they’ll check to make sure everything is developing correctly. He’s also up to three pounds!

Nox had his eye exam today, everything is right on track and they will follow up in two weeks. They will do an ultrasound on his abdomen tomorrow to make sure there isn’t anymore infection. If there is, they will do another 10 days of his antibiotics. Fingers crossed they don’t find anything and he can just finish out the next two days of his 14 day treatment

Update on Nox’s abdominal ultrasound:
We were initially told that he still has the fibrin sheath, which can harbor bacteria, so they were planning to extend his antibiotics for another 7 days. However, the infectious disease specialist called and said that, after a lot of research, there just isn’t enough evidence to support extending them and clinically, he is sooo much better than before. This sheath is common in many babies and is typically only a concern if they’re already sick.
With that being said… he gets his PICC line out tomorrow!!
Another big update: He’s had the top off his incubator for almost the past 24 hours and has maintained his temperature beautifully! That’s one more thing checked off his list to come home! His weight tonight is 3lb 7oz!

Nox is in an open crib! He’s maintained his body temperature and slowly checking off the boxes he needs to. Now that he doesn’t need humidity, we can start putting him in little outfits! Everyday is just one step closer to him coming home 🩵

Nox has been doing amazing the last few days! They took him off CPAP again and is back on the high flow, just meaning he doesn’t need as much help breathing. Today, they switched the feeding tube from his mouth to his nose, the plan soon will be to start breastfeeding!

Lots of changes over the last couple of days. Nox’s lungs were doing great for several days, and he was off CPAP and doing well. After about a week, though, his oxygen needs slowly increased, so they decided to put him back on CPAP. An X-ray and blood work were done to check if he might be sick again. The blood work came back with no concerns, but his lungs looked a little wet and showed some inflammation.

For now, the care plan is to be patient and let him grow so his lungs can continue developing and clear out the irritated tissue inside. They are also adding a natural supplement to his milk to help him grow better and faster.
